Laser Photo Facial

Facial Vein Removal (Telangectasias) and Brown / Red Spot Removal

One of the more common complaints throughout men and women is that they have uneven skin tone pigment as they age. Lasers can help fix this problem. The V-Beam laser can remove brown spots, red spots, hemangiomas, cherry angiomas, sun damage, facial veins around the face and nose, and much much more. The V-Beam is so gentle that children and babies who are born with abnormally large and discolored birthmarks often receive treatment with minimal discomfort.

Pre-Operative Instructions

  • Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E or fish oils for three days prior to and 3-5 days after your laser treatment. Using these may increase the likelihood of bruising.
  • Avoid direct exposure to the sun. A sun screen of 30 or greater should be used when exposed to the sun for several months before and after your treatment, or as long as you plan to continue treatment. Darker melanin or pigment from the sun may produce side effects or make the treatment less effective.

Post-Operative Instructions

The treated area may show a reddish/bruised discoloration. This will last 5-14 days, depending on what part of the body is treated. The treated area is delicate and should be treated with care. Please read and follow these instructions.

  • Cool ice packs may be applied during the first six hours.
  • If a crust or scab develops, allow it to fall off on its own. DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH at the area. Keep the area moist with the ointment until the crust falls off.
  • Showering is permitted. Do not rub the treated area with a face cloth or towel. Pat the area dry so the skin is not disturbed.

Acne and Rosacea Treatment

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory eruption of the central portion of the face most frequently seen in women over 30 years old. Although the exact cause is still unknown, we do know that the increase in the number of demodex folliculorum propitiates the disease and/ or can make the condition more difficult to treat.

The first indication is an erythema that breaks out in the middle of the face, with the condition worsening and becoming more frequent and persistent over time. As the disease evolves, the erythema can spread to the forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose; and at the same time, nodular papules, pustules, and telangiectasias often appear.

In some individuals, particularly men, progressive hyperplasia of the nasal sebaceous glands can occur, producing disfigurement often referred to as “rhinophyma”.

Other factors contribute to the exacerbation of the disease, including overexposure to the sun, emotional stress, repeated exposure to very hot or cold temperatures, wind, smoking, alcohol, and certain foods.

Rosacea-associated telangiectasia and erythema have been successfully treated with pulsed dye laser (PDL).

PDLs have been proven safe and effective in the treatment of a variety of vascular lesions. The laser selectively targets vascular structure through selective light absorbed by oxyhemoglobin and pulse duration that prevent damage to the epidermis and the surrounding dermis.

The development of purpuric spots after treatment with PDL is a well-known side effect. This side effect might not be cosmetically acceptable to patients, but usually resolves within 10 to 14 days after treatment.

Longer pulse duration PDL may have the same treatment efficacy without producing lasting purpura.

The V-beam has been used primarily to treat psoriasis and scars, as well as port wine stains, stretch marks, and wrinkles.
